Motorcycle Apparel

Do you really need special gear?

Motorcycle Apparel - Gear, like jackets, pants and boots designed specifically for motorcyclists. But, do you really need it?

In my opinion, yes. At least some of it.

You really do need a jacket that will protect you from wind, rain and the ground, should you part from your motorcycle. And while some non-motorcycle jackets will fit the bill, the jackets-designed-for-motorcycling do have some features that you will not find in a coat or a jacket from the department store. You'll probably get some great, useful and handy pockets that will allow you store stuff that you might need while on the bike. You'll get the ability to seal yourself in the jacket with zippers and fasteners that are designed to withstand the elements - particularly the wind.

And can anything really top a black leather motorcycle jacket?

Most importantly, you'll get a degree of protection that you just can't get in a non-motorcycle-designed jacket.

Motorcycle apparel may be a bit more expensive, but you really do get what you pay for. You get gear that is intended for the sport that you love - the sport of motorcycling.

Motorcycle touring

Wearing a a helmet is a no-brainer. There are all types of helmets to choose from, from full face to old-fashioned half-shell helmets. Not surprisingly, you can also opt for various accessories for your helmet.

Goggles and sunglasses allow you to see in bright sunshine, on dappled roads and will also protect your eyes from bugs and other road debris.

Wearing special pants will let you stay warm and dry in the worst weather, and also offer protection with padding at your knees.

- another no-brainer. Warmth, protection and vibration-stoppers.

And finally, you really need something other than sandals, you need - boots for protection and firm footing.

And if you want to extend the riding season, or stay toasty warm at even the highest elevations, try some heated motorcycle jackets and clothes.

These are the essential items of biker gear - you won't need to replace very often, so spend wisely and don't forget to wear!
