run without full choke

by Sherry
(Texas)

I have a 2002 Honda Shadow that I just changed the battery and started after about a month and it will not run without the choke. Should I change out the fuel and/or fuel filter?

Slow speed turn

by jamie lankford
(spur, Tx)

I am a woman rider, I have a 1200 Sportster, which I have no problems riding at speed, in fact I love this bike at high speed cornering, etc. But I have a LOT of difficulty in a low speed Uturn, it's embarrassing! I have dropped my bike so many times in a low-speed turn (parking, etc.,) that my brake handle resembles the top of a Dairy Queen ice cream. People have actually asked me where I got that cool brake handle, I can't believe it hasn't broken off yet! I know the Sportster is top-heavy-I am 5'8", so even though my bike sits a little higher than most, I easily reach the ground. Anybody else have this problem, how do you fix it?

Test riding for a new bike

by Lauren
(Winchester, VA)

I recently sold my HD Sportster 1200 of which I purchased without test riding because I'd just gotten my new M license. No regrets. I just happened across someone who fell in love with it and made me a great offer.

Now I'm looking for a new bike, something comfortable to tour for a few days here and there but also to use as my commuter. I'm eyeballing the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 or the Nomad 1700. OR the Yamaha 950. OR....well, the list goes one.

The problem: I find that most dealers don't allow test riding. If there's a "tester" in the back, it's not the bike I'm interested in.

Is it common to buy a bike without test riding it? How can I know I'm getting the ride I'm looking for?

And here's another problem. I'm 5'3". Try finding a bike that's low enough to test!

HELP?

bike fires with starter fluid then dies. 98 roadking injected

I have a 98 roadking fuel injected. I spray starter fluid to see if it fires, and it does. But it dies out after that. Fuel pump comes on but intermittently. Not steady for those couple of seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

electric

I bought a 1986 honda cbr 250. The owner said it won't start. Took it to a mechanic, stood in rain for 2 months. Went to collect it, put battery on and absolutely nothing happens. No lights anywhere, not even hooter. None of the fuses is blown. Nothing smells burnt. Please help. I'm pretty dumb with everthing on a bike. Thanks
