I ride, because there's nothing else like it!

by Aryn
(South Dakota)

There's nothing quite like the freedom and sheer joy of being out on the open road with the wind in your hair. I feel totally relaxed, and all of my worldly troubles just melt away as the road passes under my tires. It's just me, my bike, and the road. Nothing else matters. That's why I ride.

Me too!

I wonder how universal this simple theme is? For me working hard with all the challenges with the orphans way up north--it all just floats away into a feeling of trust that everything's going to work out as I come back with the wind blowing freely and my rubber on the road every week. Just having no walls or barriers to the nature around me too is a total winner--that and the freedom of the wind, of being free to stop & talk with the baboons I pass as I cross the Nile or to have the choice to stick to the normal route or take up a challenge that appears is so much fun. Just feels like total freedom to me!

Then after the exhilaration of a long ride, I feel ready to tackle anything again--all refreshed.
