BMW R1100R 1994

by Leeanne
(AUSTRALIA, TASMANIA)

Hi my name is Leeanne

I have a Beemer and I love it, I am vertically challenged 152cm and have had new lowered springs put in to improve my experience, but I feel its a little heavy to push around the shed and get out to ride and have rely on others for this. I chose this bike because my other half has a K1200RS and he has raved about Beemer's for ever, I had a DUCATI Monster before this and thought I would never be able to straddle a BMW.......OMGoodness when I took this one for test drive I LOVED it, seating position, confidence inspiring, corner handling etc.... I am looking at buying a F800ST for the fact its 25kgs lighter and looked narrower through the seat area it has a lowering kit in it too, does anyone have an opinion on these for me to chew the fat over as I do not want to sell my R1100R and be disappointed.

seating position
by: Lois

The seating position is slightly forward, because of the low seat I think it changes the position just a bit. I think it's very comfortable I can do 500 miles and not be worn out. I'm also 53yrs old so I think that says a lot about the comfort of this bike.

R850R ??
by: Leeanne

Thanks guys for the replies that's awesome, I am also looking at a R850R any feedback on them?? Just another question what is the seating position like on the F800ST is it a bit of a leaning forward position, as my R1100R is an upright seating position and I love it, no weight on wrists. Has anyone here ever ridden a R1100R before riding the F800ST? Looking forward to your feedback.

F800st yeahhhhhhh!
by: Lois

I have a 2011 F800st it was factory lowered with the lower seat already on it. I've had this bike just over 2 yrs and now have 23000 plus miles on it. I love this bike more than any other I've owned, and I don't see anyother bike in my future unless I can have 2. I'm only 5'3 but my inseam is 28 so this has been the perfect bike for me I live in the mountains and love to travel so it has worked out for me. I hope you can test ride before you buy it will just help you make up your mind. Ride safe and good luck.

BMW
by: Barb

Hi Leeanne, I just purchased a 2008 BMW F800ST and I love it. The BMW's do sit high and with my being only 5'2", I definately needed the low suspension kit. My husband, being a very good mechanic, did this himself. The people I bought the bike from also gave me a low seat and that made it perfect for me. The handling of this bike is unbelievable. My husband is working with me to manuvure the bike without being on it. Believe me when I say, you will not be disappointed. Good luck in making your decision.
