40 and Feeling Fabulous!

The day I came home from the MSF basic course and got on Stella for the first time.

As I ended my 39th birthday, I felt I needed to do something different to welcome the next decade in my life. Prior to this thought, I hadn't been on a bike for over 20 years. During those years, I'd married, had children and raised my family. It was time for myself now and riding a motorcycle sounded perfect. My husband and I enrolled in the MSF basic course and we bought a used 2005 Softail Deluxe to share. I got home from the class and got straight on the bike. The thrill and excitement that comes with riding that powerful piece of equipment between ones legs is indescribable. The feeling of the wind in your face, the roar in your ears and the goofy smile on your lips is something only the ones that ride can explain, and sometimes it can't be explained because it's too hard to put into words. Long story short, we had to get my husband another bike because we both wanted to ride and there wasn't enough time to share one bike. It's been 2 years now since I first got on my bike (who is now called Stella) and I've logged in about 28K miles. My husband and I did our first long distance trip of 2365 miles and LOVED IT!!! I just can't get enough riding time. Ride safe and enjoy the ride Ladies!!

I love your bike!!! It looks GREAT with you on it! I myself is a first new rider and I can't wait to start my MSF Basic course classes in August and get my license and start riding! Of course, I will ride safe, too! I have a 2005 Honda Rebel 250 to start with and once I get more riding experience, I would love to get a Harley Softail someday as I've always liked the Harley's! I am in love with your bike already!! LOL!! Congrats on your bike.

As Always, Ride Safe!

Amen to that sister - ride safe !

I did the same thing but at 50 - now 51 and on my second bike - there is a song and video on Youtube that every rider needs to hear if they haven't already -

Go to youtube and look for the keywords of

FREEDOM OF THE OPEN ROAD and watch ! I guarantee ya won't be able to not smile and kick butt to the song !

I have it on my ipod and when it gets to that song I get chills even in 100 degree riding weather
