Taking delivery of my 883 Merlot

I signed up for the MSF course while dating my husband because I wanted to be a better passenger, but liked riding with him so much I told him I wanted to find a used beater to learn on. We started looking at bikes, but they were always too big for me and he told me that I would outgrow the smaller bikes in such a short time that it would be better to buy a bike I could live with for a few years. During our search we wandered into a Harley dealership in Tucson. They had 3 of the SuperLows and I fell in love with the Merlot. I'm 5'2" and the bike was a perfect fit. John started teasing me that I had to choose between the ring and the bike. I told him I wanted the ring because I knew the bike would come in time.

The week after I completed and passed the class John bought the Merlot for me. He stored it at his house and would only let me ride it with him when I would visit after work. I came over so often he wanted to know if I was there for him or the bike. The following week he gave me my ring, with a reminder that the bike came first!

I've put 8500 miles on the bile in the last 18 months and plan to put on another 10,000 in the next 6. It has lots of power for the freeways and I don't have any problem keeping up with other riders in our group. Now that Harley has other models of super lows I know that I can upgrade any time I want, but I like my little bike and plan to ride her for many years.
