2005 Yamaha V-Star 650

by Jessica
(New Mexico)

I have wanted to ride a motorcycle for as long as I can remember but it was always one of those things that I considered to be way in the future or just a fantasy. I realized that I was checking out all of the bikes I'd pass on the road and thinking how awesome it was when I would see women riding and I was starting to become obsessed! So I decided to take the MSF course to see how I would do and decide after that whether I'd get a bike or not. I was really nervous during the course but got better and better as it went along and ended up doing really well on the test! So after researching all kinds of different bikes I found some V-Star 650's in my area and test rode a couple. I loved mine as soon as I saw her! She's low to the ground and feels great weight-wise. I am 5'5" and my feet reach the ground easily. I bought her about 3 months ago (at age 30) and haven't logged too many miles yet because I'm trying to take it one step at a time and be safe. But I love my bike and am looking forward to many many miles ahead!!

Awesome!
by: Olga

I just took the riders edge class at our local HarleyD. I found a new Yamaha vstar 650 at a local dealership. I m 5'1" 115 lbs. but honestly the one thing that is keeping me from buying it is not knowing if I ll be able to balance its weight when I stop at a traffic light or when I brake suddenly.

I have no other experience other than the class. None of my friends approve or ride motorcycles.

Enjoy you ride!

VStars

Congrats on taking the plunge. My friend has the 1100 VStar in the same color, (her 2nd one)and mine is black. My neighbors just bought two 650s this month. They had been riding older bikes of another model and the wife just wasn't comfortable on long rides. She finally test rode the 650 and loved it. Shortly after her husband was sold on the idea and found a used one. Kind of makes me laugh because I had been telling them how much I loved mine for the past 3 years. Have lots of fun!!

You go girl!

I just got my license this year as well. Unfortunately living in MA, the riding season isnt year round. (For me at least. lol) I have only logged in 200 miles. Just like you, taking it slow and steady. What will really define you as a rider is your determination to stick to it. You will. :) Good luck and your bike is a beauty!!
