Panther Crossing - next 7 miles

This was taken on my way to Key West. I was on the Tamiami Tail heading to my 1st destination of Key Largo and my friend's sailboat when I saw this sign and just about fell off the bike ! It's bad enough that you have to look out for aligators and other animals, but Panthers ??? Really ??? The worst part was - this went on for 12 miles and at the very end there is a bench and a school bus stop for kids in the area. YIKES !!!

I love the Florida Keys and will live there someday. I was lucky for the ride down with great weather. Most of the ride home was great until I hit Illinois......then it was rain for the whole day and half of the next. It's just what happens and you learn to respect the rain and wet roads. Drive accordingly, no worries. It was the best ride I've ever taken.
The Panter sign scared me, but glad to know they aren't much of a threat to the kids at the end either. lolol

Florida Panther

Occasionally a panther will get hit by a car down here (very sad). They kill livestock, but I don't think they are out much during the daytime. They are very beautiful cats. Thanks for posting the sign - cool.

That sounded like a wonderfully long ride. I hope you had good weather.

Panthers

The Florida panther is not very big, and quite shy by nature... I think the kids will be ok. Lol. The keys are awesome, aren't they!? Took a solo ride there myself but since I'm already in FL, it wasn't nearly as long a ride! Glad u loved it!
