My First Bike...sort of!

A few months ago, I decided to become a rider. My kids say its my mid-life crisis...hmmm, possibly!
I say its cuz I have lived through 2 bouts of cancer in 4 years and I plan to live til I die. What ever the case may be, I wanted a bike.
Being practical, I first bought a 150cc scooter....yeah well that was fun, but not NEAR enough power. 2 months later ( and just this week) I am the proud owner of a beautiful lil girl . She is a Honda VLX Delux 2006 and I call her Honey.

I must admit, I dropped her yesterday in the parking lot I was practicing in. For a while I was having 2nd thoughts about my decision. Luckily, my friend and neighbor was there and she told me to just let it go. Her idea was " well, now that is behind you, you never have to worry what it'd be like to drop it!"
Guess she is right...I will continue to practice and use all of the techniques that I learned in ride school. I hope that the nervousness wears off soon.

Until later, Ride safely Sisters!

Love the Bike
by: Jeanne

Hey Liz, I just looked at a 2006 VLX today. I really like these bikes for my first bike. I'm only 5'4, stub legs, and think this type of bike will fit me good. I'm still trying to find one that fits my pocketbook. I'm 45 and anxious to own my first motorbike! I also like your favorite things (Boxers) in your picture!

Go Girl!

I am 45 and just started riding too. I have not had cancer, but currently have 3 close friends battling and may only be around for less than a year. So you and I share the same philosoply...LIVE til you die. My bike is much smaller than yours, but is very sentimental. Read Kim's '7 Suzuki. Anyway, I'm proud of you! Keep doing what you feel you want to do and don't let anyone tell you different. They simply do not understand. You must do what is best for you.
Take Care,
Kim

Congrats!

Hi Liz-

Congratulations on learning to ride! And thanks for your very thoughtful comment on my post. It made me feel great that I was able to inspire someone else. When I dropped mine the first time out, I also questioned whether I should be doing this. Luckily my friends made me get right back on her once we got her off the ground (even though I was hurting!) I was a little shaky for a while but way beyond that now. Keep riding and stay healthy!

Diane
