I just love this bike. I have put on a few extras...Crashbars, Sump Protector, Center Stand, Wide foot pegs and Frames for Soft Panniers. This bike goes anywhere. I am its only limit! What's more its bloody comfortable, On and Off road! You cant ask for anymore than that.

Great all around bike!
by: RS in Montana, usa

I have had my 03 Dakar for 4 years now and love my German Girl!!

A fine compromise for exploring around Montana!!

Lots of back roads here both paved and dirt!

BMW 650 GS

Wow, Sounds like a few of you would be keen to/or own one of these bikes. I told you I was biased. But I do really think BMW has got a good name for itself. The only draw-back to owning a BMW is the cost of repair. I would have to say that it is very reliable. But, when its time to replace something (especially fairings, etc.) it can get quite costly. However, on saying that I make no regrets on owning one. The bike looks a little different now. I have fitted a Centre Stand (Dakar's don't come out with one/the standard does), Crash bars, Wider foot pegs and frames for soft panniers. All of which has come in very handy. I will post up a present day photo. But it will have to be on another thread.

Excellent bike!

I love your bike. It can go anywhere and do anything. It handles highways and dirt roads with consummate skill and ease. You are a lucky woman. I know you will get many years enjoyment riding it. BMW makes some of the best dual sport motorcycles around. German engineering is hard to beat. The BMW 650 bikes ride so smooth for a single cylinder; it is just phenomenal. Enjoy! I'm really proud for you. I ride a BMW G650 GS myself, though mine is not the Dakar version.

I want one!!
by: Martinique

Ev! I've been looking long and hard at this bike, and am seriously thinking about getting one. I currently have a Kawasaki Ninja 650R that I use for the street and track, but I want to turn it into a dedicated track bike and get something comfy for the street and for touring. Think this would fit the bill? Most touring bikes are heavy, and I'd like to stay around 400lb (dry), which is what my 650R is. :-) Let me know, love the way your bike looks! :-)
