Who's Still Riding?

I got my Christmas Day Ride in, nice weather in Central Illinois, mid 40's. We rode 200 miles yesterday to Springfield, IL and back to Effingham. I ride to work everyday through the winter as long as it's dry, no matter the temps. Thank goodness for heated gloves.

Who's Still Riding? Any tips to keep warm.

cold weather riding

Here in North Idaho we got a ride in on Jan. 4 when it was 54 degrees! Yesterday it was 19 degrees and we are supposed to get a wave of snowy weather for the next 6 days. So we're on hold for now!

I wish I could ride when it gets cold but it seems everytime it gets warm enough to ride in the winter the roads are still icy. But when it is nice enough (50 or above)and the roads are clear I ride.

Not far behind you!

We did a quick ride here in Ontario on New Year's Day - it was about 4 celcius (39 F). Then we got hit with a bit whomp of snow. So we are on hold for now. But let me tell you - that New Year's Day run felt great!! I'm with you, hon!

Missouri and Rolling

I'm here in the St. Louis, MO area and we are still getting nice days here and there. I usually ride as long as the temp is at least 38. No tips on keeping warm as I am using the bundling technique. However, I did buy a GREAT jacket that is good for 9 months out of the year. The only time I don't wear it is in the summer. :-)

Hopefully on and off all winter..in CO!
by: Lark

We rode for 3 hours the Sunday before Christmas, and it's supposed to be close to 60 again today in Colorado Springs. There's still snow melting though from a storm and they put down a lot of gravel here so you needs to be careful, but the weather is awesome in CO! It is in the 40's and 50's on and off throughout the winter normally.

Last ride of the season?
by: Mary

Hubby and I are heading out on Saturday for the "last ride of the season" (North Central Texas). Promises to be 69 and sunny. I'm a complete wimp I do not ride in anything less than 65 or more than 90. Big "ups" to those that ride rain/shine/snow/ice/cold, etc.

Rain or Shine
by: Robin

Just clarifying that we do ride in the rain. Last year we even rode when it was cold and raining, but this year, my hubby and i made a pact that the cutoff temp was 45 degrees for wet conditions, just too risky on some of these roads here.

I am still riding in the Pacfic North West. We have had the dryes December in record. But I ride in the rain also. It does get cold and I am ready for heated gloves. It is good to be able to ride almost all year round when you can

Wow

Robin, I give you a lot of credit for riding this long into the season. The 40s is pretty darn cold, even with heated equipment. There is nothing like the crisp fresh air to make you feel alive!

Heated Gloves vs Heated GRips
by: Robin

I'm curious how heated grips can keep your hands warm versus the heated gloves. The heating elements on my gloves are on the back side of my hand and down my fingers where they get the coldest. Heated grips are just gonna warm and inside of your gloves, right?

I'm in North Carolina in the mountains still pretty warm here, days getting up to mid 50's. I'm still riding as much as I can between work and rain. I've got a gerbings heated jacket liner, also have heated grips.

I'm still riding but I live in South Carolina so it hasn't been very cold here. I don't think I would be as brave as you to ride when it's really cold.
