Where to find girly bike accessories?

by Rene L.
(Bay Area No. CA)

Hi,

I've been riding for about 2 years now and am on my second bike. I love my bike, but would like to find some more feminine accessories to "customize" my bike. I saw on TV a woman rider, I think her name was Sasha (don't recall her last name) and her bike was so cool - had sort of flower petals fashioned out of what appeared to be chrome. Made the bike look like a woman's bike, but without being cheezy or cheap. I have searched and searched on line but have not found much of anything.

Any advice?

Thanks

P.S. ...I feel like I should say in advance that I am not interested in the opinions of those of you out there who march to the beat of a different drummer and would never think of adding any girly accessories to your bike and might get the notion to berate someone who does. Mostly I love this forum but at times it can get sort of preachy : ).

Thank you so much for the great ideas for where to get these acceories online. My husband has had motorcycles for years and he finally convinced me to get one. I really don't want an ugly one so I am looking for things to put on it to make it more mine. Thanks again for all of your great suggestions!

There's a lot you can do to your bike if you just think about it. I put Swarovski crystals on parts of my bike. There's also crystal accessories sold by HD that I have added...the gauge rings look awesome. I have a custom paint job so I don't want to put any stickers on her. Use your imagination and come up with your own theme.

Hey girly girl,

I bought some vinyl stickers on line...I ride a black Soft tail deluxe...I put a pink butterfly on the front fender, a heart with wings on the rear fender and roses on the gas tank.. I also decorated my saddle bags with some beads and jewelry you can buy at Micheal's craft store...

I will try and send a pic.. .. I found the stickers work well.. They come off with a hair dryer and don't ruin the paint... I think they look pretty good.. I did not want to paint anything permanent on my bike.. With the vinyls I can change things as I want...

Customize Your Bike
by: Lynn - Florida

Last year I saw a young lady with a black/pink Katana customized with a Hello Kitty theme. The license plate said BAD KITY. She also had a ponytail stuck to the back of her full face helmet. It was very original and not too over the top.

One of my best friends recently rescued a 250 Ninja which had been painted breast cancer pink with darker pink flames. It is a 2002 with only 895 miles. She ordered a custom plate that will say BC Pink and has dedicated it to breast cancer awareness. A stark contrast to the blue HD Sportster she also rides.

Use your imagination and post a picture when you get your bike customized the way YOU want it.

There's an Australian online store called Girl Rider (www.girlrider.com.au) that does clothing, but I wouldn't have a clue where to get actual bike accessories. You might have to get custom stuff, check out as many magazines as possible, every now and then I see some odd stuff advertised.

And you should make your bike look exactly how you want, after all, it's you that's out there on the road riding it!

First of all, what you want to do to your bike is YOUR business alone!

2 summers ago I went to the Women's Motorcycling conference in Keystone CO. There was a woman there who had a big dresser bike. I think there was a flat sided crystal on every inch of her bike! I can't imagine how long that would take, or the weight it would add, but she loved it. I'll try and find my pictures.
