Rode to town by myself (44 mi. trip) !

by Joetta Nelms
(Paducah Ky.)

The Saturday before last I rode 44 mi to the city to get my sheriff's inspection on my new Sportster I bought out of state. I didn't have any problems except once I revved up the throttlwhile trying to put on my right blinker. I have since bought "blinker extenders", found them online. If anyone else has trouble reaching blinker buttons I punched in "can't reach blinkers on motorcycle" and it popped up. They're plastic and just stick to the blinker button. Were only 10.00. They're un-noticeable really, and a BIG help. I feel much more readily able to put on blinkers now. Any who, the trip went great, was mostly back-roads (had to watch for deer), only got up to 50 on the highway (small highway), had cars passing me because they could NOT be behind a woman on a motorcycle. Some of them rode too close behind and I blinked my brakes at them (like my husband recommended) and they either passed of backed off. I was proud of myself and feel like it was an ice-breaker going on this little trip to town!!!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks so much for your encouraging words. Wearing girl colors is a good idea. I have a pink and black jacket I can wear. I was wearing black leather with guy looking tribal designs on it on this trip. Probably looked liked a guy. Also my bike is black. Doesn't look like a womans bike at all. I'll keep this in mind, it might bring some more awareness to drivers on the road seeing women riding...Thanks...D

Keep it up!

It's like giving yourself a big pat on the back every time I ride alone! As for cars - so what?
Let em pass - I make sure I dress in girl colors and they know it's a woman driver - most people seems to give me more space and I like it that way!
