Motorcycle Security?

by Ana
(Colorado)

I just bought a motorcycle, but I can't keep it in a garage all the time. What's the best way to keep it safe without breaking my bank account?

If you live in an apt, cover it and find something to lock it to. Youtube has videos that a bike can be picked up and put in a van in under 10 sec. --- If you live in a house and are parking in the front, the best thing I've seen is a concrete anchor in the sidewalk or the ground with a U shaped bolt or rod stuck in it, and lock your bike to that. -- Park it somewhere not seen from the street. -- Get a garden shed.

Bike Cover

You can buy a cover for it, I do not have a garage either and in the spring summer and fall it is parked in my yard with the cover on it they cost between 80-100 dollars depending what kind you get and yes every night I made sure the cover was on. It does the trick in the winter I had my boyfriend build a box around my bike in the yard on a solid surface and wrapped it in plastic to keep the water and weather out.

They make a lock that fits on the front brake disk that is easy to carry with you, and prevents anyone from rolling the bike. Cable style for securing at the house and electronic types that will set off a pager if the bike is moved. All can be had at most bike dealers, or on line.
