Got My License

by Veronica
(Valley Forge)

I completed the MSP and on July 10th passed the skills test! The ladies of the Her Motorcycle Forum have been my inspiration, gave me encouragement and courage. Honestly, this forum has been a big part of my success. Learning to ride did not come easy to me and even as I completed each part of the skills test, I was pretty sure I had failed. I blew the reverse U-turns and I too believed I had blown the S curve and cornering. When my entire class including me learned we had all passed, I was shocked. One of my instructors told me that in all the years that he instructed he had never seen anyone screw up the S curve and cornering exercise as badly as I did and still manage to execute a perfect S turn and cornering lol. The lessons I learned consist of never losing fate in yourself, don't over think (we women tend to do it easily), relax your posture, smile or force a smile and enjoy the ride! You will be surprised at what you can accomplish. Tomorrow I venture out with my new learned skills in my development to start and as I progress look forward to my first real ride with my husband. My husband and my college age kids are so proud of me (the kids didn't think their weenie mom could do it) and I feel amazing having done something I never imagined I could or would do at age 54.
For those going through this journey now, please write your concerns. I am sure I and/or others out there have experienced what you are feeling now. Use this forum for strength, I did and it got me through the tough parts. Ride on!

Just like I said You Go Girl!!!!
Congratulations too for completing this task... Just get out there and practice now. I remember the first time I actually rode with my hubby and both my grown sons back in 2006. It was amazing. I'm excited for you too! Job well done!

And Sue don't worry, I've been riding for 7 years now and with once going down last year in Custer Park, South Dakota believe me I'm still learning also.. I think one never stops learning in life.. But the ultimate goal is to get your Wind Therapy!

Congratulations Veronica!! I bet you are so excited to get out on the open road! Make sure you take your time and practice, practice, practice! This is my second season riding and I'm still learning. There are days where I am extremely confident on the road and then there are days where I hit every crack, bump, or hole in the road. I always have to think to remind myself to look where I am going. When you get out on the road, dont let others push you to drive faster than you are capable of or want. Remember to enjoy the ride and apply what you have learned. :)
