Completed the MSF motorcycle course this weekend!

by Joetta Nelms
(Paducah Ky.)

I completed the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's course this past weekend and I would recommend it to everyone who rides, beginner or experienced. I got a new Sportster 72 f1 month ago and took the course prior to riding it because i'm brand new at this. I've been riding with my husband for 10 years. I haven't ridden my motorcycle yet ( haven't had time and have been sick) since the course, but plan to this evening when my husband gets home. Since I took the course I feel so much more ready to ride. I had a blast during the course. There were 12 people in the class and 7 of them were women! YEA! Wish me luck...

Rode the Sportie for the first time Saturday!
by: slojo

I rode my Sportster 72 for the first time Saturday, it went pretty well. Was surprised at how scared I was. Rode again Sunday through our very small town and did better my hubby says. It was sooooo awesome to be riding it finally (have made 2 payments already!)...Only got up to 40mph but that was enough for now...Went down our gravel hill driveway (very scarey) okay...

How did your ride go??

I am 56 yrs old and 4' 11" #150. My 2008 Honda Shadow 750 Areo feels just great to me. I can flat foot it and am very comfortable on the road. However, I have some neck and shoulder problems and pushing/walking it around the garage is not my favorite thing. Hubby seems to think I should be able to drive in to the garage, walk it and turn around and angle park it backwards!!! I told him NOT SO MUCH - so he does that part for me.

I think this will be the biggest bike I ever drive...

May trade Sportster for a Honda 750 spirit...
by: slojo

I purchased a brand new Sportster 72 one month ago and plan to try to ride it today for the first time. My husband and I are considering trading it for a smaller motorcycle maybe the Honda Spirit 750. I plan to decide when I ride the Sportster today for the first time. What do you all think. I'm small framed and felt more comfortable on the Honda motorcycle... I think i'll be able to tell pretty quick if I think I can handle the Sportster 1200v. I want to be safe and feel like I can handle my first motorcycle without being fearful....Please respond with your thoughts about this...

Me Too - Oct 21

I am so glad I took the course - so much to learn and I will never drive my car the same way again either! Been 40 yrs since driver's ed. The relearning and new learning will serve me well.

I did get out last Sunday for my first offical ride - was nice but getting pretty cold here in WI this time of year - hope for one more ride this weekend if the rain holds off.

I have a new to me Honda Shadow Aero 750 - Love it!
