Blind Sides

by Gary
(Allen, TX.)

After riding for several years, one thing has always stood out as far as safety goes. Air space! Leave air space between you and other vehicles. I'm talking yards not feet here. Also helpful is the 2 second rule. Keep a minimum distance from your bike to the vehicle in front of you by at least two seconds. Pick out an obect or maker the front vehicle has just passed, light pole road button - whatever. The count onethousand one onethousand two. If you pass the marker before you get to 2 then your too close! Back off and live! Push streering is also very important. Google or Bing it. Push Streeing.
Ride safe!

Great Advice
by: Pam Redfern

That is great advice Gary. But the count is one onethousand two onethousand for the second rule. And that rule is the distance to follow another vehicle so you have time to react. The four second rule is the rule for how much time you will need to make a decision to react. If your reaction time is slower make more distance. And always always look as far into the distances as you can so you know what is happened down the road. The don't rely on the car in front of you to be aware of anything further then the car in front of him/her. It is your responsibilty to ride safe. Ride your own ride, don't let anyone push you on a ride.
