Back on the bike

by Dirck
(Minnesota)

After being away from riding for 3 decades the most useful thing I have learned since I am back on the bike is counter steering. I try to practice the technique all the time and find it much more responsive than leaning, because it puts you in the lean quickly. It was not easy to explain or understand until you start doing it. I plan to make it an automatic response.

counter steering

I agree, I learned to "press" on the handle bars when you start into your turn which will cause the front end to counter steer naturally. To take a curve going to the right, press on the right handle bar grip and lean into the turn. Its surprizing how many of my male rider friends don't understand the concept of counter steering.
