Take the MSF course !

Take the Motorcycle safety course, practice, practice, respect the machine, do not get over cocky! Concentrate on what you are doing when on the bike, there is no other room in your head for anything else ! Have fun!
I started out this May with a Rebel 250. Just this month moved up to a Honda Shadow VLX 600! Love the new bike and I am glad I started out small and then moved up.

MSF course

I agree they really do help. I failed my first test by one point and went back and did another 7 hour course and test. HOLY that was invaluable. I have but almost 1400K's on my bike and though corners are still slower I am riding with people who have been doing it for years. THERE IS NO WAY! I would be riding the way I am if I had not taken the course. I plan on taking a course or refresher yearly to hone my skills. The more we learn the safer we will be!

I could not agree more. I took mine about a month ago and bought Yamaha V Star 650 and love it. I continue to practice and each time go a little further.
