Shipping a Motorcycle

What you need to know about motorcycle transport

Motorcycle Transport

You need to learn about shipping a motorcycle.

You've got a two week vacation. You live on the East Coast, and want to ride your motorcycle through California. Either you ride across the country and back, trailer your motorcycle and drive across the country and back
OR

You arrange for motorcycle transport.

I like the UShip system - which works like an auction. You pick your starting point and end point, and then let potential shippers bid on your transport.

You can specify how you want your bike to be shipped - whether in covered trailer, or an open bed trailer. You do need to make arrangements in advance, leaving plenty of time for the bidding, and for the traveling.

If your motorcycle can take up some spare space in a semi, already traveling across the country - you might get a great deal from a bidder. With gas prices climbing, the benefits work to both the shipper and the bidder.

If you are planning a long haul, with your motorcycle on a trailer hitched to your car or truck - and you've got room for more, you can bid on a transport, and make some money during your trip.
