Not only is the bike a big part of the experience, take a bike course, it may save your life someday. It will make you the best rider you can be. The courses are so good. As far as the perfect bike, visit shops and sit on them get to get the feel of the bike. Test the position of the handlebars and the position of your feet, have the salesman hold the bike up so you can put both feet on the pegs so you can get a true feel. Don't get something your unsure of.
Enjoy it! There's nothing better in the whole wide world then riding...

Best Advice by: Rene L.
Hi,
The best advice I got when I was thinking of getting my first bike (last year) was to take a look at the past posts on this forum about this subject - it is a question that comes up frequently, and the historical responses are great; take the MSF class in order to learn safe practices; and last, but certainly not least, go out and actually sit on as many bikes as you can to get the feel of the comfort for you. Have someone hold onto the front tire while you sit on the bike to test the comfort of reaching the controls, the brake, foot pegs, etc., and test the weight of the bike.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Seat Heights by: Cathy G
Hi there,
Check this out. It's a website that lists motorcycles according to their seat heights. It goes from lowest to highest. This would be a great start. I hope this helps!
