Turning Into a Parking Space

by Sharon
(Colorado)

Ok, so I admit I have this fear when it comes to pulling into a parking space. I guess my fear comes from when I hit the front brake and of course you know what happened. I know that I cannot use the front brake when I am not perfectly straight but it seems using the rear brake is just not coming natural. What can I do to practice this? I certainly don't want to lay it over at McDonalds or someplace like that again. Now I look crazy cause I stop short and then paddle into the spot. I hate that and think I am the only one with this problem.

ride your ride. Forget anyone else.
I sometimes still stop before rolling into a parking spot.
try to use drive through paces at first, you'll feel like there is room to spare.
You'll get it!

Parking Lots
by: Lois

Go to your local high school on the weekend. No one is around and you have the whole lot to play in. Just keep going from one parking spot to another and think of it as a game we tend not to get bored when it's a game. Pick out 5 spots to park make each one different, one against a curb, one in the middle of a lot, one on your left side, one on your right side, one between 2 cars, imagined if necessary. Give yourself points for each one, 1-10 then try to better your score. just remember keep it fun and safe.

You do not look crazy.

Who cares what other people think anyway? You're parking it, not them. Just keep parking the way you like to. Once you get more practice, it will come easier. If you can, practice stopping and parking at places that are not busy. Practice gently squeezing the front brake, remembering to use some rear brake too. You'll be an old pro in no time and will look back and laugh at yourself. Good luck.
