Throttle Lock and Wrist Rest

by Gale
(Sequim, WA, USA)

I started riding last fall and just upgraded from a Suzuki GZ250 to an Intruder 800. I love my new bike! But I have a problem with the joint on my right thumb, so I cannot easily keep the throttle open for long periods without a lot of discomfort. I had a throttle lock installed and put on a wrist rest. My husband was concerned about the TL, but I am comfortable with both. I use the rest all the time, and the TL only on highways. I am very conservative using it, but so for it has been great--it allows me to easily throttle down even when it is locked.

Does anyone have experience with throttle locks and wrist rests? What do you think of them?

Wrist Rest

I have carpal tunnel and using a wrist rest has resolved the painful issues on long rides. Before the wrist rest, my throttle hand would fall asleep. I probably won't get a throttle lock, at least not yet.

Throttle Lock

I rode for a year before I final got a rest. Didn't use it too much. Finally got a throttle lock and lov it but do't use it all the time. Just when I need a rest. Then I get back on the throttle. What I've discovered is that when my husband rides with me, we both can't have the throttle locks at the same time, because it is almost impossible to get them set at exactly the same speed. So we take turns.

I don't have any experience with either, but am probably going to get them. The info you posted has pretty much convinced me that its worth my while.

Thanks,
