Switching from Sport Bike to a Cruiser

I used to ride a sport bike (GSXR750) and I was taught to counter steer. When I needed to go left I would steer slightly to the right. It lets you get a lot deeper into a corner with what I consider more control. I have ridden this way for over 12 years. I would like to try a cruiser and can not get a straight answer. Do you turn into the corner when taking it or away from it when ridding a cruiser?

It's the Same

It sounds like the same way I handle a curve in my cruiser. We were taught in my class to "press" on the side you want the bike to turn, but really you are turning it the opposite way, ever so slightly. Sounds like what you described, I think. Hope that helped.
