Suzuki S-40

by Vicky
(Pennsylvania)

I have been riding for 24 years but on a Yamaha dirt bike. Although we recently bought a Harley 105th anniversary; I was on a mission for something smaller and easier to control. I found my perfect match! I love my Suzuki S-40. We fit together like a glove. I don't think I could find a bike to suite me better. And the color is a perfect match with my Fender guitar. I sit in anticipation waiting for this snow to melt so I can ride more!

S40
by: Jonna

Hi Rene,

I have also had a few problems getting my s40 into first gear from neutral. My husband taught me a little trick of rolling the bike back and forth and then try to put it in gear. It works every time! I did have a problem with the gas tank leaking from one of the welds and took it back where I purchased it and they got me a new tank on it. I was pretty nervous about that but other than that I think the only other problems I had were from my husband tweaking with the bike to get it louder and faster (Super Trapp pipe and Dyna jetted the carbs) After fine tuning it I have had no problems since and love it! We still have the Sportster that he got me before I got the s40. He rides it sometimes but he says it's still mine in case I ever want to go up to it but I don't really see that ever happening. I have all the power I will ever need on the s40 and it is now loud enough so I know when to shift which was pretty hard before while riding with hubby and the son on their Harleys!:)

Hope Your Experience is Better than Mine
by: Rene L.

Hi,

Congrats on your Boulevard S-40. I bought mine new last February. Though in many ways I love the bike - it is a perfect size, easy to handle, light weight and is a nice fuschia color, in other ways I truly wish I had bought the V-Star or Sportsters that I had also considered.

I have had issues with the bike and it was brand new. By the time I had just over 600 miles on the bike, I had it back to the dealer 3 times. Each time I had problems either starting the bike or with it stopping on me while I was out. The dealer keeps minimizing, but I am starting to think either the bike is not very well built, or I got a lemon. I just got it out of the shop for the 3rd time when the ignition switch came loose and now I notice that I have trouble after coming to a stop getting it into 1st gear from Neutral.

The other problem is that it is really, really, really, really hard to get started in cold weather. So, good luck. I would be interested to hear from others who have this bike if they have had any problems.

Thanks
