Summer Riding in the Heat

by Stephanie

My ride is a 2008 HD Softail Deluxe and because I sit "in the bike", I am blasted by the heat off my bike and in our summer it gets 95-100 degrees. The only time I laid my bike down, was after a great day of riding in extreme heat, I was overheated and not 'mentally sharp' at a stop.

I need to get some ideas on how to cool my engine and my legs on a ride.

Thanks for any ideas!!

Stephanie

Summer Heat on Bikes
by: Stephanie

Thanks Marsha for your comment, bought the heat shields by Kurakyn, they cut down on maybe 5% of the heat coming off my Deluxe. Last summer we changed our riding style by stopping often to wet down our shirts and we have gel neck wraps that work really well retaining moisture and keeping us cool. Also, I always wear a white long-sleeve top and tons of sunscreen!!

Engine Heat

Hi,

I don't see a date on your post so I'm Sorry if this is after the fact. Have you looked into H-D, Kuryakyn brand heat shields or "No More Fried Thighs" - I have the last ones, and while they're more expensive, the research I did on them , sold me on their product. Their website is at http://www.rjsoriginals.com/ Deluxes are beautiful !!
