Saddlebag Installation

I am trying to put my new saddlebags on my 883 custom Sportster and when I put it under the seat, the leather seems to be too thick. The screw and the hole doesn't match up...Is there something i can do?

 Longer Bolt

If you put a longer bolt in, it will tear up your tire.

In the process of trying a longer bolt. We also took the leather strap off that connected the two bags and replaced it with zip ties...They were a lot thinner and then we didn't even have to use the long bolt.

A longer bolt won't work because the hook doesn't make it close enough to line up with the hole...It's like I need an extended hook.
