Ninja 250

After storing my bike for the winter, I tried starting it, but the engine was full of gas, and I broke a couple of gear parts in the engine. After replacing them, the engine is still filling up with fuel. We removed the gas tank, changed the tubing, took out the carbs and cleaned them, and it's still filling up with fuel and not starting. I believe the petcock valve is not working properly and letting fuel pour into the engine. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this problem?

Thanks Rene. We tried again last night, and the gas is still leaking. I think we've narrowed it down to the petcock valve itself. Our next move is to replace (rebuild) it and do the carbs again. Thanks for the info on the other website. Can't wait to get out there!!!

Bummer
by: Rene L

Hi, sounds like a real bummer. I don't know anything about the mechanics of a motorcycle, but wanted to give you someplace that you might try going for answers. My boyfriend's motorcycle club has a website and on their forum there is a place to ask questions about motorcycles, including mechanical ones. There are a number of members who have been riding for years and years and know a lot about the ends and outs of motorcycles. You might want to post your question there. You can either register or enter and leave a question as a guest.

www.wolfpackmc.org is the website. Click on the forum tab and look for the ask a question area.

Good luck. It's getting to be summertime and I know you want your bike ready to go for the upcoming season.
