New To Riding Need HELP Selecting A Bike

I took the motorcycle Safety course, road a Suzuki GS250, now Im looking to buy my 1st bike ...Heres my problem:

1. Can't test drive any, dealer won't let you.

2. I Like the Harley 883, but don't need the noise, & the BMW F800. Kind of like the Buel Blast.

3. Don't want anything that will make me scared, but I want to be able to enjoy my ride, with a little more power than a GS250.

4. Don't want to spend too much $...no more than $6000.

how about the Suzuki Boulevard C50?

Help! can you give me a few suggestions, please?

Regarding Type of Bike for Newby
by: Cheri

I'm also new to riding and just bought my first bike this year. I think before you buy a bike you need to decide what type of bike you want. Do you want a sport bike? Or a cruiser? Or something in between - a standard?

Decide what type of bike you like the look of first. Then start looking for ones that fit you. I bought a Suzuki Gladius SFV650 (it's considered a standard bike). I chose it because I wanted a sporty looking bike that I don't have to consistently lean over on, and I also wanted something that was light enough feeling that I felt I could control it on my own. Finally, I wanted a bike that had enough power that I wouldn't outgrow it. I've heard that often when women buy a 250, within a few months after they've become use to riding, they don't have enough power and they end up trading it in for a bigger bike. Plus in my case, my husband rides a Yamaha FZ1 (1000cc) and I wanted something that would keep up with him so we could take trips together.

I think the type of motorcycle you buy is as personal as the type of clothes you wear and the type of car you like. So, what type you get is really up to your personality. Believe me if you look, you can find a bike in ANY category, cruiser, standard or sport that will fit you!

I am a newbie and bought this bike. I love it! Very well balanced and easy to ride but plenty of power so I don't out grow it. I hope to ride this bike for years but if I choose to sell it a guy or girl would love to buy it!
