New Ninja Rider

by Sara
(PA)

I just purchased a used 250 Ninja and want to lower it 4 inches to accommodate my height. Some friends tell me it's not safe to do because it changes the factory configuration of the bike. I'm just learning to ride, and I don't know if I made a mistake or not by buying this bike that's too tall for me.

Lowering a Ninja
by: Deana

I'm a new rider with a Ninja ZX-6R which was too tall for me to reach the ground when I bought it. I took it to my local shop and had a lower arm of some sort replaced, which lowered it a couple of inches. I don't find that any safety was compromised. My husband is an experience rider and he doesn't have any issues with it, except it's now too short for him to comfortably take off.

Icon Bombshell Boots

I have a 250 Ninja and it bothered me that my feet couldn't lay flat on the ground, then I invested in a pair of Icon Bombshell Boots and my problem was solved!

Go Ninja Rider

Great advice from the lady below. I had a friend that had her Ninja lowered a bit and it helped her a lot. As long as you feel comfortable on your toes and balls of your feet, and the bike is not teetering about when you're stopped, you'll do just fine. She was about 5-3" and wore a boot with 2" heels to ride. Had no problems at all. Wish you luck!

I had a Ninja 250 and my husband lowered my frame a little, (about inch) the rest I took from the seat. Had someone cut the seat down for me. Ended up being about about 3" overall. As long as you can the the ball of your foot on the ground you should be OK. Get a good pair of boots with a thicker sole, that should help also.
