Name My Harley?

Hi... I've been riding for six months now and I hear people talk about their bike having a name. I was too embarrassed to ask since I didn't want to feel like a newbie. So....does everyone name their bike and do you give it a girl or guy name? :)

Bike Name

I could never find a good name for my 2007 Bonneville. Maybe because the bike just didn't fit me and I knew I had to sell it. (like a puppy you don't name because it has to go) When I bought my new bike, a 2002 VStar 1100, the name came to me right away - Max. He is black with a simple gray & blue pinstripe.

Naming the Bike

Bikes really have a personality. Maybe we give them those qualities who knows. My bike makes me feel peaceful and free when I ride.

Since it was built in the Ural mountains of Russia, I gave my Ural the Russian name of Irina. Her name is like goddess of peace. Since I am an old hippie kinds goes along with my persona.

Naming Your Bike

To find a good name for a bike, is exactly like finding a good name for a new pet. You have to live with it for a while, get to know it, it's personality, it's good and bad traits? then a suitable name will just pop into your head.

My bike is named SLY1, cause it's so pretty, it deceives people into thinking it is tame, but my SLY1 can go FAST! and, by the way, SLY are my initials!

So live with your bike, don't stress about it, and someday you will just know his or her name!

Naming Your Bike

This seems to be a trait more among women riders than men...My first Harley was a red 883 Sporty, her name was Betty after Betty Boop, she was red, sassy, sporty, sexy and in memory of my Mom who loved Betty Boop. He husband (my step-dad gave me the money to buy her.

My new bike a classic looking 1200L Sporty is named Grace, in Memory of my Grandmother, I felt it fit because my bike is black and white, vintage look, so an old fashion name would do, and she looks like a cop bike... I like the show "Saving Grace"(Holly Hunt is a crazy female cop) so I named her also after a cop character.

Have fun and let us know!

It's very common to name your bike. Mine is named Dragonfly. You have to have the feel of whether it feels feminine or masculine. Have fun with finding that name. Cheers, Kim
