Proud Bike Owner!

I've always been a back-side rider since I was in my early teens and loved to ride with someone. Then after going through rough times and health scare, I started an itch wanting my own bike and started looking into a beginner bike for myself and I found the bike I fell in love with. It's a 2005 Honda Rebel 250cc. I started practicing in a parking lot and will be taking the MSF classes in August which I can't wait and hope to pass with flying colors! I am 50 years old and have been deaf since birth and I know I can conquer the fears I have when it comes to turning and going on freeways, but I know I will love riding my motorcycle. I am proud of myself and my accomplishments and getting myself a new bike and I am very happy with it.

Update!
by: Kristina

I took my MSF classes last month and it was a very good learning experience for me and I learned a lot, but felt that there was not enough time to practice. I was unable to practice on my bike right after classes due to work and my BF's work schedule as he is an experienced motorcyclist, but I did get a chance to practice the day before the test and I PASSED! I was so excited! Went to the DMV and got my license! I can't wait to go riding soon! Per instructor at the MSF class, she suggested to practice more on my quick stops and turns (I go a little too slow on my turns, but she rather see me go slow than going fast!). Every time, I see a motorcyclist go by, I smile because I am itching to go riding now, but I am nervous to hit the road for the first time since I have been practicing in a parking lot and in classes. Do you have any suggestions for me before I hit the road for the first time or any advice that will make my nervousness go away???? I would appreciate some good positive feedback from you.

As Always, RIDE SAFE!

Deafness
by: Kristina

No, I don't think being deaf will make motorcycling more dangerous for me. There are many deaf bikers all over the USA that has been riding longer than I have. I am already more aware of my surroundings when I am driving my car! So motorcycling will make me be aware even more around me and my bike. I may get nervous once I hit the road, but I will overcome it. I can't wait, but I must continue on practicing, practicing!!! Ride Safe and have fun!

Rebel.....I"m So Jealous
by: Anonymous

The Rebel is my favorite bike so far. I'm still looking for one for me. Also, congrats on riding. Do you think that being deaf is going to make your riding more dangerous or do you think you will be more safe because you'll have to be even more aware of your surroundings?

You Go Girl!

Congratulations on your new bike and your determination. I am also a new front seat rider. I took the MSF course in Dec 08 at the age of 52 and am very happy that I did. If the course is like the ones here in CA, you will be ahead of the game as the bikes in the class are Honda Rebels as well. Good luck, have fun and ride safe.
