My Bike Stalls at Stop Lights

by Denise
(Denver)

I just bought an 89 Yamaha Radian. The seller said the carbs were just serviced, the battery is new and all the fluids have been flushed and changed. It rode fine when I test drove it.

Over the past two days, (I bought it 3 days ago) every time I stop at a stop light it will stall if i don't have the throttle rolled on a bit. It doesn't stall right away, but slowly the engine will just cut out even when I have the clutch held in or the bike in neutral. I'm not sure what the problem is.

When I turn the bike on, I have to give it a little gas but i can't let it sit there to warm up because it will stall out. Even when I have the choke all the way open.

Can someone help me?

Thanks,

Denise

I have this same problem on my Honda CL360. It might be the rectifier. Also check to make sure there are no short in the wires and that connections are dry and tight.

Possible Throttle Not Set High Enough
by: Pam

Don't know much about things like bikes stalling out, but it sounds like the throttle is not set high enough. I am sure that a mechanic can adjust the throttle. You can also put in a tank of jet fuel to clean out what needs to be cleaned out. There is a fuel station at 32nd and Wadsworth that sells jet fuel, it is high octane. Contact Top Gun Motorsports, their mechanics are awesome. They are located at 58th and I-25.
