Cruisin' On My Road King

Cruisin' On My Road King

This is my 3rd Harley and my LAST! I love my bike! Betsy is her name. We've cruised the mountains, flatlands, badlands, beaches. Survived torrential rain, hail, tornadoes, sweltering heat, fog and 50mph winds. I am enjoying every moment of every mile!

Bad Weather Riding
by: Bonnie

Hi Cathy,

I live in Amarillo, TX..Tornado Alley! One evening when hubby and I were out on a dinner ride in the late spring, we had just finished our dinner and saw on the local news that our county was under a Tornado Warning (Spotted or potential rotation detected) We were about 20 miles from home.

It was a very warm day..tanktop riding, so we saw where the potential rotation was on the radar and hopped on the bikes and hauled butt home!

We didn't get 5 miles from the restaurant and felt the little prickles of hail and rain hitting our face..WOW that hurts!.. Luckily we both had our half helmets on. As the ride progressed we could see the nasty rotating skies, we pulled off under an underpass and put on our hoodies. Hubby asked..wanna stay or boogie home? I said..let's boogie! So we rode home in the hail and rain and the WIND!!!! When we finally pulled into the garage soaked..A few dancing funnel clouds and confirmed small tornado had touched down right where we were riding at.

I hate getting caught in nasty weather..

My Other 2 Harley's
by: Bonnie

Hi Michelle,

My first bike was a 883 Sportster. I rode it for 2 years and put 29,000 miles on. My first trip to Sturgis was on my Sporty! Great beginner biker that kept up with the big boys!

My second bike was a 2004 Dyna Super Glide..I enjoyed that bike, because it was beefier than a sporty but still not heavy enough for the West Texas winds we have to put up with!

As soon as the 2009 bikes rolled off the HD semi..I sat on the Road King and fell in love! I used my Dyna for a trade in, built my "Betsy" to my specs..and have enjoyed every mile I've put on.

Enjoy your sporty sister..They say..if you can ride a Sportster, you can ride anything! I'm living proof!!

Hey I love your ride too. What were the other bikes that you owned and how long have you been riding?

This was my first season, I have a 2009 Sportster custom 1200, and I love her too.

But I was thinking one day I'd like to get a cruiser type bike, My hubby has an 2009 Electra Glide Classic. And it's o.k... for him. I love the Heritage and the Fat Bob. When did you change?

Tornadoes

Hi Bonnie,

I want to hear the story about the tornadoes- that's spooky because... on a bike, where can you go?

Cathy
