Multi Purpose Jacket

by Shannon
(Oregon)

Good Morning Ladies!

First - here is my riding background: I have spent most of my life playing in the dirt, dodging trees, rocks and chipmunks. My dirt bike is a KTM 250 XCF-W and we ride all over Oregon - from forest service roads to single-track and have seen some amazing things!

Last year on one of our trips we were at a paved road and were truly wishing we could just keep going, but since our bikes are not street legal it was time to turn around! My husband already had his endorsement, so last September I took the MSF class with one of my dirt riding girl friends so that we could all do the same thing later on.

I recently found myself a Yamaha 250 dual-sport and my husband bought himself a Suzuki 400 dual-sport. Both of these bikes are more geared toward dirt riding - IE: better suspensions, higher clearance, lighter weight (but still heavier than the dirt bike KTM: 221 Yamaha: 275).

Anyway - on to my question - what I am looking for is dual-sport jacket that is cut for a woman, but has some serious pockets, maybe a hydration pack, a couple liners (wet and warm)and enough pockets that I could leave my purse at home when I ride to work. I hate using a back pack because the straps get caught on my body armor and it makes it almost impossible to get off. I have see exactly what I want in a men's jacket (Olympia X-moto Jacket) but they are steep at $500 and they are a men's jacket which means it will hang on me like a sack and the sleeves will be to long. Any suggestions?

Try the Olympia Airglide, AST, or Bonneville. You can find good buys on eBay. Olympia jackets are great.

I bought this jacket at a huge savings for only $60 but I would have paid more for it. It's waterproof, tons of pockets in the jacket and also the removable liner. You can even where the liner alone and it looks nice. I ride without the liner at 50 plus but with the liner as cold as 28 and no problems.

It doesn't have a place for a bladder, but it has all the other bells and whistles. Good luck in your search.

Try First Gear.

I have the Kilamonjaro jacket. It is a multi layer jacket. The outside jacket is water proof
(we have ridden in down pours for hours and been just a little damp around the edges) it has a fleece inner liner for warmth (down to about 10), a bladder pouch, lots of other pockets and zippered vents for air flow.

We have had our for about 10 years and it still looks new and we do tons of travel miles.
We are on our 3rd Gold Wing it has 106,000 miles and we have 2 other bikes that we play on

Good luck!
