MSF before buying first motorcycle.

The MSF class was good, allowing me to test ride dealership bikes before zeroing in on potential purchase. After buying first bike I had first emergency use of the MSF curriculum. I was driving steep uphill + 270 degree clockwise curve to get from interstate feeder upto bridge deck. The front wheel had too little air, so it really looked like front wheel would go into skid, so I straigtened it up, went over centerline, and stopped just one feet before hitting guardrail. Check tires before ride, fill up when needed. I think the MSF practice saved me from a low side. Luckily for me no cagers where around when it happened. ** I bought Ryobi 12V air compressor from Home Depot for easier air fillup. Dissecting, and throwing away all the plastic casing around the compressor leaves a surprisingly compact pump, suitable for topping off tires, even on the road, as the 12V airpump now fits in the toolbag. I was inspired by the Hausfeld RP3000 tire inflator writeup by Dave Searle 10/2002. Try also: MotoPump. |
