Motorcycle Start button

I have a 1983 Suzuki GS 1100, I have had some issues with it starting over the past few months. Also recently the bike blew a fuse while I was driving and I lost complete power. I got the bike out of the shop today, they had just put a brand new battery in it, rode great, went to class, came back an hour and a half later to start it and the start button did absolutely nothing! The battery was not dead, nothing was left on, and the lights would turn on, but the starter would not turn over at all. What could this be? Usually the starter would turn over a bit then finally spark. Thanks!
