Motorcycle Pants

by Julie
(USA)

I'm buying motorcycle pants for the first time to enjoy a Gold Wing we recently purchased. I've had a Fieldsheer jacket I really like for a few years but decided to be safer and add pants. In street clothes, I wear an 8. From sizing charts, it looks like I should order either a 10 or 12 for motorcycle pants. Is that typical to order one to two sizes larger than street clothes? I want to be comfortable and safe but I don't really want to look like the Michelin Man!

Field Sheer Pants
by: queenb

I just purchased a Field Sheer Adventure Jacket and the Four Season Pants. I bought size 10 in both although I wear a 6/8. They fit wonderfully. If I use the liner with the pants, then nothing else under but tights. I can use the pants as over pants to go over jeans if I remove the liner. I shopped for a long time and actually ordered Aerostich twice which I returned because of poor fit. I'm a long distance rider and wanted the right gear. I'm in love with my Field Sheer gear. Since the gear is designed for women, it actually fits right !!!!! Go for it.

I recently came across info on fieldsheer pants also and am greatly interested ~ I did see that their sizing isn't true to normal sizing ~ so I would be glad to hear your final chose etc.

Pants Sizing
by: WWF

I just bought FirstGear riding pants. I am in between a size 10 and 12 in regular pants (except for length, which is short) and the FirstGear pants size 10 fit great - not too big but large enough to wear regular pants underneath. The size 12 was too large and it seems this brand might run a little large. I tried on another brand and the medium size fit, but not as well as the FirstGear. So I think trying on the pants is the key. We are lucky that the motorcycle shop we use will order the sizes I want to try, since they don't carry much inventory for women.

I would suggest you go to a bike shop that sells pants/chaps, and try some on . Then you'll know.
