Moooooouse

If you mousse your hair after washing it, you can spritz it down after removing your helmet. I bought a trial size hair spray bottle, dumped it, washed it out and filled it with water and just a touch of conditioner Even though your hair is flat, the spritz will bring "memory" to the mousse and rub it in with your fingers and lift it while you're doing it. Of course you don't want to saturate your hair, and long hair sure makes this a lot harder, but it works on shoulder length and shorter very well!

Try Saltwater

Add a little sea salt to the water for texture... It will give you those pretty beach waves.
