Low Ponytail

by Samantha White
(Hawaii)

I have come across the problem of helmet hair recently since I decided to grow out my hair and learn to ride a motorcycle. I'm still new at this but recently I pull back what I can into a ponytail at the base of my neck (or for more work higher). Since my hair is already pressed to my head I don't have to worry about flyaways, lol.

Well Put

Yeah, thanks. I like the idea of having a plan so I don't look like a doofus, but I'm not real prissy and I don't want to be that girl.

Pocket Comb
by: Jenny

I always carry a pocket comb. Even when I had long hair, I carried a pocket comb and at least flicked it through. Now it's a bit easier (and harder) since I've got short hair, the comb goes through easier, but it's layered and doesn't look all that great even after a combing. That being said, I've found that I can avoid being prissy but just hopping off and grabbing the comb in a "matter of fact" manner. I flip the comb through my hair, re-tie my bandanna or ponytail or whatever, and don't appear all preoccupied. I don't sit staring in the mirror. I don't comb it and re-comb it and re-comb it again. It's just part of what I do when I get off, I get my key (my bike has the key way down on the side, I have to get off the bike to reach it), pull off my helmet, pop my gloves inside it, grab my pocket comb, pull the comb through my hair, and get on to whatever it is I'm doing next.

Fly Aways
by: Anonymous

I do that too but my hair is layered and i still get fly aways... I want to look nice when my hubby and I get where we are going. I've been brain storming carrying a brush, to new post helmet hair styles. When I see other women riders, they mostly seem to not care and I don't want to appear to be prissy. What do you think?
