by: Linda Marie Hope

I am also looking for some females to ride with. I have had my license a couple years but do not have anyone to ride with so have not gotten a lot of riding in. Although I did ride to Myrtle beach a couple years ago. Would love to meet some girls to ride with whom have patience to ride with someone whom likes to take it easy LOL. Rest assured, I am not a bar goer and not half naked either LOL. Email me if you want to meet up for coffee and meet I am in Aberdeen not far from you. lindahope650@aol.com I hope to hear from you.

Motorcycle Club for Women
by: Diamond G

Hi - I am a member of the greatest Motorcycle Club for Women only that there ever was - Leather & Lace MC. We are all over - We believe in our children and ourselves and our communities. We were founded in 1983 - check us out @ www.leatherandlacemc.com.

Leather & Lace was created to bring women together who have a serious interest in motorcycling and in making a difference in the lives of others. Upon this foundation, the women of Leather & Lace Motorcycle Club have built a strong sisterhood.

The Leather & Lace sisterhood is for strong, independent women who share a common bond of riding. We are women with families and careers AND who enjoy the rush of the wind in their faces.

The women of Leather & Lace strongly believe that children hold the keys to the future, and must carry on their heritage. So, through charitable activities and involvement within our communities, we hope to insure the quality of life for all children. Additionally, we strive to increase public awareness concerning motorcycles & motorcyclists.

Group Ride or Club
by: Gina

Hi Kat I think everyone has their level of comfort to ride in a group setting it has be something you agree with not doing just bc everyone else is. IMOP I think you can find a good club or "group" to ride with. We have an informal group called the Portland Road Runners, which as member you can ride with the group or chose not to ride. We have a calendar where rides are posted and you can review see if it something you would like to do, if it is then you meet up join in on the ride. We have had several rides posted from going to St Helen's, to the coast and just around town. Great bunch people (there are the one with drama), but mostly people you can get to know and call friends. I woul check around see if you find something you like or do something like this.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Riding Club

Kat, my husband and I have belonged to Southern Cruisers Riding Club for 5 years (he's been the 1st officer of the local chapter (Lancaster-Lebanon) for a couple of years). We have met some really great people and have done a lot of group riding with them. We usually have a great time but there are always going to be a few who can spoil it, too. I also do not agree w/ the whole party scene of vulgar activity, drinking, etc. I believe you need to stand up for what you believe. If there is a local chapter of the SCRCers, you could check it out and see if it fits your needs. There is no cost of obligation. Some chapters are more active than others. It doesn't hurt to look around. Good luck.

Club/ groups
by: Lauren

I looked for a Womens group when i was new, and they did seem to be inactive in my area. :( But it is fun to have friends who ride, and more experienced folks to learn from. The family oriented groups in my area are Patriot Guard and Christian Motorcycle Asc. I bet you can find friends there !

No clubs for us
by: Jacee

My husband and I tried motorcycle clubs. We're through with them. There weren't any half-naked women but they did have bar runs every once in a while. We just don't drink and drive - not ever on our sport bikes. The club members rode sport bikes also but I guess they didn't care much about their lives if they were willing to do that. After being in that club (in CO) for about 9 months, we began to hear little things about the members - like during their yearly Vegas ride, one guy was making out with his wife and another girl, drunk as can be in a Vegas club. We decided we didn't need those kind of people in our lives.

But the biggest reason we found NOT to ride with a bunch of people is the danger of too many bikes, too close together - especially for a newbie, which I was at the time. My husband and I just don't ride too close together, although we definitely keep track of each other, but we're not cruising either - we're riding fast usually.

His motto is: one or two riders are hooligans; three or more are a gang - in the eyes of the police and the public who have disdain for motorcyclists. There is, and always will be, a stigma about motorcyclists. Police watch all of us carefully. It doesn't matter if you are the most upstanding citizen, dressed nicely, follow all the rules of the road - you are watched by police. The fewer riders there are, the less attention you draw from police and others in cars.

We still contend that the fewer riders in the group, the safer everyone is. One or two friends to ride with you and your husband can be fun. More than that - it gets riskier. The longer you ride, you will find many people around you who have motorcycles. We just moved into a new neighborhood in April and we have found that about every 3rd house has a motorcycle in the garage. A club isn't necessary, or advisable.
