Just Go Out and Ride...and Have Fun!

I'm still a beginner myself but here's how I've done it.
I started on a 150cc scooter about five months ago that I had to get a motorcycle endorsement to ride. I had to take an MSF class because I'm in the military. Loads of valuable information and a great start to riding. Now I'm already riding my husband's Honda Shadow Spirit 750. The best advice is to just go out and ride! I agree with getting out on the back roads or even right around your local neighborhood. Huge empty parking lots are good for practicing turns.
Have a sense of humor - I've popped the clutch, accidentally hit the horn instead of the turn signal, forgot to switch the turn signal off. I started out talking myself through it (pull in the clutch, eeeaaassseee out the clutch, shift, use both hand/foot brakes, don't drop the bike) but I can see how much better I've become over the past few rides and know I'll only improve - all while I'm having fun!
