installing crash bars

I have a 07 honda shadow vlx 600 and now have purchased crash bars to put on my bike for the final piece of protection. As some of you know I had dumped my bike and was pinned in the middle of the street unable to get the bike off my leg. Now, if it happens again I will be able to get out from under it and pick the bike up. So my question is does anyone know specifically how to install them (i know each bike is different) or do you know of a site that would show this process. thanks, Doreen
