I have an 05 Yamaha FZ1. It keeps sputtering and its not getting enough power, What should I do?

I have an 05 Yamaha FZ1. It keeps sputtering and its not getting enough power anymore. I have to turn the throttle 2/3 just to take off from a red light so i wont stall in the middle of the street. What should I do? Can someone please help me? This is my first bike it is my baby but I am unsure what to do. I really need guidance on how to fix this problem and what to do to prevent this in the future. And also tips on racing because I plan on going to Barber next year.
