I finally got my babe home...Now all I need to do is learn to ride!

My bike ( 98 Kawasaki ZX6 ) is home and I'm soo excited!!

I could not ride it home, my husband had to do that. While watching him, while I followed in my truck, I thought...wow, I really am going to do this! I feel very confident about passing the written and getting my learners.

I even feel pretty good about being on the bike. Learned and practiced the friction zone on my husbands. Just need the confidence to get out of 1st gear and get over my other fear...THE THROTTLE. I'm soo terrified of giving it a soft, baby twist and it takes me flying off into the sky.

I know I can't be the only woman who was every afraid to touch that throttle.

Any advice on how to approach the throttle? I am going to take a safety class, but don't want to go in to it totally green.

Congratulations on your new motorcycle. Glad you chose to pursue riding. It takes courage and persistence to learn to ride, but you can do it. Take it easy on the throttle. If you do apply too much, you can always pull in the clutch lever and gently squeeze the front brake. Remember to straighten the handlebars before applying the front brake. Good luck. I think you are making a wise decision taking a safety class. I took the MSF course, and it has definitely made me a much safer rider. I also think it is good that your husband is giving you a few pointers before the class, so you want be completely terrified in the class. You'll have a little bit of experience to draw from, if just in first gear. Keep us posted on your progress.
