How Low Can You Go

by MrsJayB
(Jax, FL, US)

I have a gsx-r600. I am 4'9" and I need it slammed! It was already lowered when I got it, but I need it lowered some more. So I was wondering whats the max for lowering a bike.

Boots
by: Cathy

I've heard there's a German make of boot (unfortunately can't remember the brand now), which has an inner insert for giving ladies a bit more height - the advantage is apparently that the boot is still flat on the outside, and so the heel won't interfere if you need to move your foot forward to change gear or brake. May be worth looking into?

seat
by: MrsJayB

@Julie I tried that also. I was told that, that seat couldn't be shaved down. So I think I'm gonna look for a good pair of boots and take my bike to a local dealer. Thanks a lot.

Low

You can also have the seat shaved. I am going from a 250cc Ninja to a 600cc. There is a bit of a size difference and before I start riding her, I am taking the seat in to get it altered a bit. As I am too worried about clearance and I don't want to start cutting the shocks. Good luck to you and happy riding :)

Riding Boots
by: MrsJayB

@Wanda thanks a lot. Its hard finding a boot, I wear a five to five & a half. I'm going to take it to one of my local dealers for them to look at it. Ok now any advice on some boots!

Tough Question
by: Wanda

Congratulations on the bike! I don't know the exact answer to your question, and I suggest asking at one of your local motorcycle shops. The concern with going lower will of course be ground clearance. The lower to the ground you are, the smaller the obstacles you will be able to ride over. Also, lowering limits the travel of the front forks and rear shocks, so when going lower, you will need to be careful running over bumps. Have you looked into getting a pair of motorcycle boots with a tall heel? That might help a little.
