Helmet Hair - My Solution

by Jackie Osborne
(Vero Beach FL)

Well in 85 degree or better FL heat it is difficult to look good after hours of riding. The only thing I have found that helps me is, just before I put on my helmet I part my hair the opposite of normal. When I finally take off helmet, I bend over at waist, fluff the hair, part, and hope for the best (all done with fingers and no mirror). People around me do not want to wait for me to fix my hair, so this has become my option. I usually look like a messy Farah Fawcett. Some days better than others depending on product used in the hair.

My Helmet Saved My Life, Still Had Good Hair
by: JANET

I wear my scarf around my forehead, with the upper part of my hair over the scarf. I have a very small roller set and curl my hair or use a few small rollers then use hair spray and the heat of a blow dryer. My hair is fluffy not curly or flat when I remove my helmet, the scarf keeps it dry even in the heat. I was hit and went off my bike and onto the auto and then to the street. I always wear a safe helmet not just a DOT, but also SNELL rated for safety. I was taken to the E/R where I worked and my coworkers were telling my how good I looked, even with a large head laceration, the scarf kept the blood form flowing in my face. I still ride and love it, I have many other tips for taking care of my skin and health while riding. Staying safe, alert, and looking good are all part of the fun!
