Helmet Hair From Hell!

by Emily L
(Los Angeles, CA )

I'm sure you get hundreds,if not thousands of questions/complaints from other riders in regards to helmet hair. Any tips on avoiding the flat, sweated, tangled mess? I have tried braids,do-rags,anti-sweat hair caps and no luck. Help!

Wear it Proudly!
by: Gypsy Spirit

Hi Emily ...

Different hair types have different strategies. It also makes a difference in how you need to present yourself when you take your helmet off. Someone arriving at work as a bank teller has different considerations from someone arriving at a BBQ!

My hair is extremely fine & thin, long & straight. I wind it up in a hair clip inside my helmet to help reduce wind tangles. If I really need to be presentable, I take it down, comb it out, and put it up fresh when I arrive.

Another woman I know always has her favourite hat with her to wear at stops. Her hair has very "springy" curls.

Figure out how to incorporate helmet hair into your style and wear it proudly!
