Practicing In a Parking Lot

Practicing In a Parking Lot

My husband got me a new 2009 silver/grey Suzuki Boulevard C50 SE for my birthday in March. It's a very comfortable bike, center balanced, and with floor boards with toe and heel shifting... soooo easy! I am 5'6", weigh 126lbs and this bike fits me perfectly. It looks big, but it's very easy to handle and a smooth ride. And yes, you can still lean into curves despite the floor boards. Last weekend, May 13-15, we took the MSF Motorcycle Course (http://online2.msf-usa.org/msf/Default.aspx). Hubby already took the course back in 2006 when he got his HD Night Train, but did it again with me just to support me. It was a lot of fun and I recommend it to anybody, even if you already have your license but never done the course it will teach you things you might never have thought of. Besides that, a lot of insurance companies will give you a discount when you've done the course. Monday we went to the DMV with my certificate and I did the written test. Yayyy I passed! After that I practiced riding around the block, and two afternoons in an empty parking lot. Hubby wasn't gonna let me hit the road before he was confident I had it all under control, and that I was confident myself. Plus at the course you will ride small 250CC bikes, so I had to get used to my 800CC and much bigger bike. Yesterday, three days after I took the course, I rode 80 miles of back roads and through a city with heavy traffic, with my husband on his bike behind me. And it went great! WE are so proud of ME!

LOVE THE BOULLY!!

You look GREAT on your Boulevard!! I agree, it is the perfect size bike...nice and big, yet light and nimble for a cruiser.

Great choice!

Congrats to you now enjoy!

I remember those first days of riding. Just keep taking it one ride at a time as you venture further and further. Enjoy riding with your husband also. Before you know it you will be calling it your Wind Therapy as I do. It is just something about getting in the wind that clears your head and relaxes you. Have fun and stay safe in your journeys!

Wonderful Feeling

Now all the fun begins! Thanks for sharing Linda. I agree that even if you have your license, the course is a great refresher. I'm thinking of taking the advanced course soon. Have a wonderful time riding with your nice hubby!
