Getting Battery Off Harley Sportster 883

by Kadett Hulsman
(London, UK)

Hello,

Is there a special tool for removing the nut that holds the cable that connects the negative pole to the crankcase? It says in the manual that you have to disconnect this nut in order to charge the flat battery.

It is really hard to get to this nut with regular tools as it is hidden behind cables? So could we leave it of in the future, or will the electric system on the bike not function properly if the battery is not earthed to the frame?

Can the battery be charged/removed without setting off the alarm or immobilizer,or does this not make any difference since the battery is flat?

Do Harleys use imperial system or metric for tools?
